UMPG Writers Nominated for 109 Grammy Awards, Including Justin Timberlake, Imagine Dragons, James Blake, Rondor's James Fauntleroy, and many more

[ 2014-01-29 ] Universal Music Publishing Group (UMPG) writers capped off a remarkable year with 109 total Grammy nominations at Friday’s Grammy Nomination Concert, which was held at Los Angeles' Nokia Theatre L.A. Live. A number of UMPG writers garnered multiple nominations on the night, including Justin Timberlake and Rondor’s James Fauntleroy, who led the way with eight and ten Grammy nods, respectively. Timberlake’s nominations include Best R&B Song (“Pusher Love Girl”), Best Rap Song (“Holy Grail”), and Best Pop Solo Performance (“Mirrors”), while Fauntleroy is up for Best Urban Contemporary Album (for both Rihanna’s Unapologetic and Mack Wilds’ New York: A Love Story) as well as Best R&B Album, a category which UMPG writers swept with a share in each of the five nominations.

UMPG writers also had a strong showing in all of the major award categories. Ari Levine’s work on Bruno Mars’ single “Locked Out of Heaven” led to a nomination for Song of the Year, while UMPG writer Hit-Boy and Rondor writer Sly Jordan are up for Album of the Year thanks to their contributions to Kendrick Lamar’s Good Kid, M.A.A.D City. Record of the Year nominees include Imagine Dragons and Alex da Kid, who share a nomination for Imagine Dragons’ hit single “Radioactive,” Ari Levine and Emile Haynie, who were nominated for their work on “Locked Out of Heaven” by Bruno Mars, and Robin Thicke, who was nominated for his No. 1 single “Blurred Lines.” James Blake also received a nod for Best New Artist.

Other Grammy-nominated UMPG writers include Eminem (Best Rap Performance for “Berzerk”), Skylar Grey (Best Dance Recording for “Clarity” by Zedd ft. Foxes), Shane McAnally (Best Country Song for both Kacey Musgraves’ “Merry Go ‘Round” and Miranda Lambert’s “Mama’s Broken Heart”) and Gloria Estefan (Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album for The Standards), to name a few. The Grammy winners will be announced at the 56th Annual Grammy Awards, which are scheduled to be held on January 26th at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
